Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes' F1 title victory hit by tragedy
Lewis Hamilton's Drivers Championship was hampered by tragedy after the death of team employee in a car accident from their Brackley HQ in Northamptonshire.

Mercedes' title celebrations were dampened by the news of one of the employees being killed in car crash on his way home from their Brackley HQ in Northamptonshire which left the team devastated. The team was also left devastated earlier in the season after they lost non-executive chairman Niki Lauda.

F1: Car accident
According to the British media reports, the crash happened on the A422 between Brackley and Farthinghoe. It was less than three miles away from Mercedes' base. The incident happened shortly after midnight on Tuesday, October 15, 48 hours after Mercedes had lifted Constructors Championship.
The report also said that the 29-year-old staffer, who has not been named, was in a white Mercedes 300 AMG. The car which left the carriageway, mounted a grass verge, and ploughed into a tree. The staffer was declared dead at the scene and police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Speaking about the tragedy, Mercedes spokesperson said the Mercedes sadly confirm that a team member lost his life in a road traffic accident when returning home on the evening of Monday, October 14. The team is in contact with the family and supporting them at this difficult time.
Lewis Hamilton win his 6th championship
Mercedes secured the Constructors Championship after Valtteri Bottas won the Japanese Grand Prix, while teammate Lewis Hamilton finished third in the race. Lewis Hamilton on Sunday won his sixth F1 World Championship. The British driver finished in second place at the US Grand Prix to win the tile. The victory also moves him second on the all-time list, only one behind F1 legend Michael Schumacher.
