The match was held at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 30 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. New signing Russell Westbrook was the Rockets' top scorer with 24 points.

Milwaukee Bucks started the game well, with Giannis, Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, Wesley Matthews and Kyle Korver scoring points and ended Q1 with a lead 30-23 over the Rockets. However, Rockets gained momentum in the second half after Westbrook and James Harden led the first half. The game went into break with Rockets leading with a 66-50 score. The Greek Freak dominated the second half, even though he fouled out with 5:18 left in the game. The Bucks had already comeback by the end, winning their season opener with a lead of six points.
