NBA: Anthony Davis hits the 40-20 mark and breaks LA Lakers record

Anthony Davis’ already outstanding season with the LA Lakers just got better. Davis scored 40 points and 20 rebounds in three quarters as LA Lakers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies in a 120-91 encounter on Wednesday, October 30 and set a new record. The match was held at the Lakers’ home Staples Center in Los Angeles. NBA 2019-20: Anthony Davis breaks LA Lakers’ FT record

Davis made 26 of 27 free-throw attempts, setting a new Lakers record for the most number of free throws in one match. Dwight Howard held the previous record. Howard hit 25 free throws in their game against Orlando Magic in 2016 while playing for the players.

NBA 2019-20: Davis hits the 40-20 mark fastest in 31 minutes

Ever since the shot-clock era started in 1954, Davis became the player to hit the 40-20 mark fastest in 31 minutes or less. He took 30:34 minutes. Elgin Baylor had previously scored 40-20 on January 2, 1961. The game was of 33 minutes and Baylor had recorded 46 points and 22 rebounds. Davis is also the first player playing for the Lakers since Shaquille O’Neal in 2003 to hit the 40-20 mark.
