NBA: Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns suspended after brawl
NBA: Karl-Anthony Towns & Joel Embiid were suspended for two games after their fight during the Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves game on Thursday.
In the aftermath of the brawl between Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns on Thursday, the NBA announced on Friday that both players will be suspended for two games each respectively. Both players threw punches during Q3 and were later ejected from the game. Philadelphia beat Minnesota 117-95. Ben Simmons, who got involved in the brawl, was not fined. The Sixers guard grabbed Towns and almost choked him as the game officials had to get involved.
NBA: The Embiid–Towns feud
The brawl started during Q3 when Philadelphia were leading 75-55. The two players wrestled each other to the ground before the officials cleared the benches in order to stop the fight. Ben Simmons also placed himself in the scuffle, as he put Towns in a chokehold on the ground. Embiid then made his way towards the bench as he smiled.
Embiid scored 19 points and five rebounds, while Towns finished the game with 13 points and six rebounds. The home crowd cheered for Embiid, and he shadow-boxed all the way to the locker room. Both Embiid and Towns took the fight to social media, commenting on the issue through their Twitter accounts.
