In another thrilling contest this season, Dabang Delhi registered a close victory over Patna Pirates on September 26 at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur. The win also helped the Joginder Singh-led Delhi return to the top spot of the ongoing Vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 standings. After rampaging their way throughout the preliminary round with back-to-back victories, the Delhi-based team was briefly toppled by the Bengal Warriors at the points table. However, Bengal’s reign at the top was cut short by Dabang Delhi with their most recent win in the Jaipur leg. The contest was also the last match of both teams before moving to the Tau Devilal Sports Complex in Panchkula for the 11th leg of the tournament.

Patna Pirates vs Dabang Delhi: Pro Kabaddi 2019, Match 108

Match highlights:

In spite of Pardeep Narwal’s 19 raid points in the game, three-time PKL winners Patna Pirates went down to Delhi with a four-point difference. In a see-saw encounter, both teams were evenly poised for the majority of the game before Patna squandered their lead to some smart play by Delhi in the dying stages of the match. Delhi raider Vijay, who secured 12 raid points, was one of the star performers for the winning team. Naveen Kumar’s 16th successive Super 10 for the Delhi-based side also made the difference in a nail-biting finish.

The two teams were pretty much neck-and-neck at the halfway stage, with both sides scoring 13 points each. The second half began with a super tackle on Pardeep Narwal which was then responded by the Pirates with a two-point raid by Patna’s South Korean import Lee Jang-Kun. The action continued and at one stage, the Pirates extended their lead to 33-27 with just six minutes left in the match. However, a five-point super raid by Delhi’s Vijay reduced the Patna’s lead to 36-35 with just three minutes left in the play. After levelling the points, Dabang Delhi inflicted an all-out to gain a three-point lead and eventually, finished the game with a four-point difference.
