Rizzo slams 5 home runs as Chicago Cubs beat Pittsburgh Pirates 17-8

After a disappointing beginning, Major League Baseball outfit Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo and catcher Willson Contreras fought back with positive responses in their match on September 14. 

One for the club

Anthony hit 5 home runs during the match and Contreras was behind two long solo home runs as the Chicago Cubs kept up their pace in the wild-card race after they beat rivals Pittsburgh Pirates in a 17-8 win.

First timer, Nico Hoerner hit a shot that had him take 2 runs in his first Major League homer. Meanwhile, the Brewers lost to the Cardinals on September 13 who also hold the top spot in the National League Central standings.

The 22-year-old made his debut for the team after the Cubs issued a statement that second baseman Javier Baez would be out for the remainder of the season after he suffered a hairline fracture in this left-hand thumb.

Willson, Nico, and right fielder Nicholas Castellanos hit a home run early in first as Chicago Cubs scored 5 times and kept on going and did not any sign of slowing down after the Pirates pounced on pitcher Jon Lester for a 4-0 lead.

The manager of the Chicago Cubs, Joe Maddon, stated that he was expecting his team to respond in the way that they did. He further added that with the situation in the match, his team showed great spirit. He further added that he wanted to have a positive mindset that his team would continue this run of great results.

Cub's hunger to win the match

Contreras said that during the match he was trying to hit towards the center that increased the score of his home runs to 23. The catcher has scored a total of 4 home runs in 6 matches after recovering from a hamstring injury. He further added that he feeling that his teamwas going to have a good time on the field because everyone was eager to win and that led us to not give up and we bounced back.

The cubs made 7 runs in the bottom of the innings when 9 of their batters reached after two fo the batsmen were out. 
The Chicago Cubs came back from a 3-5 visit to start their final regular-season homestand followed by a weekend series with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
