Simone Biles breaks Vitaly Scherbo's record of winning most medals
Simone Biles creates history by surpassing Vitaly Scherbo's tally of 23 medals at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Biles now has 25 medals. .

Simone Biles extends her medals tally by winning her 19th gold during the ongoing World Championship in Stuttgart. The American artistic gymnast won two gold medals last Sunday to take her overall medals tally to 25, thus beating the previous World Championship record held by Vitaly Scherbo. Vitaly had won 23 medals at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, out of which 12 were gold medals. He also won seven silver medals and four bronze in his overall tally of 23.

Simone Biles becomes most decorated gymnast
The 22-year old broke Vitaly’s record by winning on the balance beam last Sunday. The win was her 24th medal at the premier tournament, however, Biles won another medal later on the same day. Biles currently holds 25 medals at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, which includes a staggering 19 gold medals to her credit. She also has three silvers and three bronze medals in her world record tally.
2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart, Germany concluded on Sunday. The 9-day event ended with the United States leading the medal standings with five gold medals. Incidentally, all five top prizes won by the US involved Biles as she won four individual medals under the individual all-round, vault, balance beam and floor categories. She also won another gold under the team category to make it five for the United States.
Simone Biles’ track record
Apart from her record-breaking spree in the ongoing Championship, Biles has also won four golds and one bronze in the Olympic games. Her hunger for gold medals does not stop there as the American gymnast has also won top prizes at the Pacific Rim Championships and at the FIG All-Around World Cups. Overall, the 22-year old has won 27 gold medals while she had to contend with second and third positions four times each.
