UFC veteran Thiago Alves likely to retire in 2020 after Tim fight

UFC veteran Thiago Alves has a date for his next fight. He will be facing Tim Means in his next welterweight throwdown and retire from the UFC. Read for more.

A month after being forced out of the UFC Copenhagen co-main event clash with Gunnar Nelson because of kidney stones, Thiago Alves already has a date for his next fight. UFC announced last week that Thiago Alves will be facing Tim Means in a welterweight throwdown at UFC on ESPN 7 in Washington, DC, on December 7. Alves (23-14-0) will be looking to bounce back from his decision defeat earlier in May this year.

Thiago Alves announces retirement from UFC and future plans

The MMA veteran who made his UFC debut against Spencer Fisher recently opened on his plans for 2020 and beyond. Alves discussed a few things on his schedule from passing along his combat experience to his brothers and sisters to his desire of turning around his MMA career and an interest of fighting for the free agency that would pay him the most. He also expressed interest in starting his American Top Team gym in the first half of next year where he is presently one of the coaches. Thiago Alves: Key career wins

The Brazilian artist has been part of the UFC since 2005, where he has represented his city proudly over the last 13-plus years, establishing himself as one of the best welterweights of his time. Some of his most notable wins include Patrick Cote (UFC 210), Jordan Mein (UFC 183), Josh Koscheck (UFC 90), and Matt Hughes (UFC 85).

Thiago Alves: His last UFC appearance

Thiago was coming off a decision loss to Laureano Staropoli at UFC 237 before he bounced from the Gunnar Nelson fight in September. Earlier in February, the former UFC title contender defeated Max Griffin in a decision victory at UFC Fight Night 144.
