WWE Raw: Rey Mysterio wins a 5-way match to challenge Seth Rollins
WWE Raw: Highlights of the all the Monday Night Raw events. Rey Mysterio won a 5-way match to challenge Universal champion Seth Rollins, to be held next week.
Monday night World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Raw segment was action-packed, with the Fiend attacking his former protege Braun Strowman, and Rey Mysterio winning a 5-way match to challenge Universal champion Seth Rollins.
The night opened with Rollins addressing the audience, recounting how he lived in constant fear of the Fiend – Bray Wyatt. His opening address was interrupted by Strowman, whom he had defeated to hold onto his title. While the two wrestlers were having an exchange of words, with Rollins challenging Strowman to another bout, the Fiend made his sinister entry. This time, he went for his former protege while Collins looked on terrified. Last time Rollins had faced the Fiend, he had been left brutalised by the latter at the end of a match for the Universal Championship.
Viking's victory
In another match of the night, the Viking Raiders trounced the OC in the ring. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson struggled from the start against the Raiders’ Erik and Ivar. Erik’s MVP-level performance in the ring turned the match in Raiders’ favour. Though the OC put up a brave fight, they were no match for Erik and Ivan’s attack. After giving Anderson the Viking experience, they turned towards Gallows. Erik overcame him with a suicide dive, throwing Gallows out of the ring. This victory of a world-class team could herald the true arrival of the Viking Raiders on the WWE scene.
Rey Mysterio battle it out
Another big win of the evening, the Ultimate Underdog – Rey Mysterio scored a victory in a fatal 5-way elimination match. Rey went up against Shinsuke Nakamura, the Intercontinental Champion from SmackDown, Ricochet, WWE US Champion AJ Styles and Raw Tag Team Champion Robert Roode. Rey lucked out as the heavyweights cancelled each other out, leaving Rey responsible for eliminating just one – Roode – to claim victory. The win has earned Rey a place in next week’s Universal Title bout, challenging Seth Rollins.
