Roger Federer reveals funny conversation with father at Wimbledon

Federer's record of eight Wimbledon titles remained intact as Carlos Alcaraz restricted Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final this year. The Spaniard lifted his maiden title at the All England Club. Federer was present in the Royal Box alongside the Princess of Wales and the tennis star shared an interesting story.

In an interaction with the New York Times, the player revealed a funny encounter with his father.

"My dad whispered, ‘Wouldn’t you rather be playing than watching?

“I said, ‘No, I’m happy to enjoy the match.’ It was so fun sitting next to Princess Catherine.”

“She is an avid tennis fan, and she plays herself. I know her very well. We have to be careful not to talk too much."

Roger Federer opens up on his retirement

Federer also opened out about his retirement as the player insisted he had the perfect ending to his tennis career.

“But the good/bad thing about Covid, and with my knee surgery, is that everything started to slow down in the past three years, so it wasn’t like I came from playing 100 matches and then boom, it’s over.

“At the end I was relieved, I think, and happy to retire. It ended in the most perfect way at the Laver Cup. I was surrounded by my biggest rivals, and my family was there and my friends."

Federer has mostly been spending his time with his family, as he seems to be enjoying his post-retirement life.
