Naomi Osaka said she was inspired by her "role models winning" Laureus awards as she claimed the World Sportswoman of the Year prize in Seville, Spain on Thursday.

Osaka won the US Open for the second time in 2020 and made a powerful statement at Flushing Meadows in support of the 'Black Lives Matter' campaign as she wore different face masks in each of her matches, which featured the names of African Americans who had died in recent years.
