Roger Federer takes rugby quiz, picks favourite to win Rugby World Cup

The 2019 Rugby World Cup got underway in Japan four weeks ago and now the tournament is heading towards the business end with eight teams battling each other to reach the finals of the mega event. In an interview with a leading media daily, the Rugby World Cup has been interesting for tennis legend Roger Federer, who was able to answer some rugby questions extremely well.

The Swiss tennis star was asked about the number of players in the sport and about the team that is called the All Blacks. Federer was spot on with his answers to everyone’s surprise. He also opened up about how he used to practice 'scum method' with his father during his childhood days. In the final question, he was asked about the duration of a normal Rugby match, to which he correctly replied 80 minutes.

With heavyweights like England, Australia, New Zealand, and Australia all in contention to lift the trophy, Federer was asked to pick his favourite team for the tournament. The 38-year-old replied South Africa, despite Australia and New Zealand being much fancied as always. It doesn't come as a surprise since Federer's mother is South African by origin even though his father is Swiss and as a result, he was born and brought up in the European country.

Earlier, Federer stated that he would be competing in the French Open in 2020. However, he will not be playing a lot of matches before the big tournament as he wanted to spend some time with his family. The 20-time Grand Slam winner played in this year's French Open and reached the semi-finals after a 3-year absence.

He also confirmed that he would be playing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Federer's first Olympics participation came at the 2000 Sydney tournament. He went on to win a doubles gold in the 2008 Olympics alongside Stan Wawrinka and a silver medal in the 2012 edition.
