Earlier this year, the 16-time WWE champion and actor John Cena expressed his opinion on the ever-continuous Lionel Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo GOAT debate. Cena, who has a diverse knowledge of sports, has made it known that he too has an opinion about perhaps the biggest argument in the world of football.

John Cena picks Ronaldo over Messi
Who is better, is it Messi or Ronaldo? The question has outlived time and over the years it has divided not just the sports world but every industry where football fanatics exist. While many famous personalities have forwarded the Argentine World Cup winner's name as the better of the two, many consider the 5-time Balon d'Or winner as the better baller. The definite answer on who is the GOAT may never arrive. But according to the GOAT of WWE, it is the Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
In an interview with BBC's Mark Lawrenson, Cena spoke openly about his preference for Ronaldo. "If I had to name the best player, I would start and end with Cristiano Ronaldo. That's it."
Cristiano Ronaldo on his rivalry with Lionel Messi
Recently Cristiano Ronaldo also laid out a few words on the subject and said it is over. The rivalry was at its peak when both Ronaldo and Messi were a part of the La Liga. However, both the superstars have drifted apart. Now Ronaldo is a part of the Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, whereas Messi is on a mission to refurbish Inter Miami.
“The rivalry is over,” Ronaldo said. “It was good, a healthy rivalry that spectators liked a lot. Whoever likes Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t have to hate Messi or vice-versa because they’re both very good. They changed the history of football, and they keep on doing it.”
“We are respected throughout the world, that’s the most important thing. He makes his way, I make mine, even if we are playing outside Europe. He has done well, from what I’ve seen, and so have I. It’s about continuing. The legacy continues. The rivalry, I don’t see things like that. I’ve already said, we’ve shared the stage for 15 years and we ended up being, I wouldn’t say friends, because I never dined with him, but we are professional colleagues and we respect each other.”
