Tony Khan reacts to CM Punk tagging him and Vince McMahon on Twitter

Tony Khan was left surprised as to why CM Punk tagged him and Vince McMahon in a tweet as Tony revealed that he was not in contact with Punk recently regarding a move to All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

CM Punk tags Vince McMahon and Tony Khan

Earlier this week, CM Punk tweeted how he's getting back to watching wrestling and tagged numerous other people. Most of those are also on WWE Backstage but Punk also tagged Vince McMahon and Tony Khan of AEW.

Tony Khan admits surprise with CM Punk tag

Speaking to Wrestling Inc on a podcast, Tony Khan revealed he was surprised why CM Punk chose to tag him with the folks from WWE. Tony admitted that Punk was not the first person he wanted to talk to about AEW, but he was on a list of top people he wanted to talk to about working with AEW.

Tony Khan wanted to make it clear that he never tried to lead anyone into believing that Punk was going to be working with AEW.

"I haven't talked to him for a long time. I wish him the best and am not sure why he tagged me but it's hard to talk about all of the great things happening in wrestling without talking about AEW."

Long before Tony Khan became a wrestling executive, he was a wrestling fan. He talked about the first indie show he attended in August of 1996 in which the main event was Chris Jericho vs Sabu. Khan has always been a big Jericho fan and expressed his delight in having the opportunity to work with the Canadian at AEW.
