Natalya and Lacey Evans’s rivalry is legendary in the WWE universe. Now, their storyline has forever been immortalised after their match at the Crown Jewel on Thursday night. The match was the first WWE women’s match to be hosted in Saudi Arabia. Natalya ensured that she won the historic match.

Though both wrestlers seemed overwhelmed by the magnitude of the event, it was back to the basics once the bell rang. Natalya and Lacey have gone up against each other for months in the run-up to the Crown Jewel match. This familiarity was evident on Thursday night as each anticipated the other’s move.

Southern Belle Lacey gained an upper hand and wore down her opponent, launching repeated attacks on Natalya’s left arm. Lacey even launched her signature springboard Moonsault, leaving the crowd at the King Fahd International Stadium stunned and chanting ‘this is awesome.

Natalya dominates

However, Natalya rallied in the latter part of the match, hitting her opponent with a discus lariat and locking her in a vaunted sharpshooter – leaving her no choice but to tap out. After the win, an emotional Natalya shared her victory and moment of glory with Lacey. The two opponents bowed to the stadium, hands raised, for what they had achieved in the ring was a defining moment for Women’s WWE.
