WWE star Mike Kanellis has requested the company to release him and this becomes the second time this year that the wrestler has put forth this request. It was reported back in January 2019 that Mike and Maria Kanellis had requested their WWE releases. Both wanted to part ways with the company. However, six months later in June, it was reported that both Mike and Maria had agreed to a new five-year deal.
Mike took to Twitter to confirm that he had requested a release from WWE.
Here is Kanellis' tweet:

Mike Kanellis' statement begins with him thanking everyone in the company who has ever helped him, though he states that at 34-years-old, working one day a week is just not going to be enough for him. He adds that he joined WWE to work, and that opportunity does not seem to exist now and that while he thought of resigning in June, it would be best for his family, bringing his work frustrations and misery home most certainly isn't.
It does not come as a surprise that he asked for his release, considering how he has been treated by the company since debuting all the way back in June 2017. After an initial “power of love” storyline, he and his wife, Maria, were quickly forgotten about and mostly kept off the television. He was then sent to 205 Live and it wasn’t long before reports came out that the couple asked for their release.
It wasn’t given, of course, and instead, they signed new deals back in June. However, Mike has been booked as bad or worse than any wrestler in recent memory and didn't hold the best image for months. As you can tell, it’s made him miserable. There is no word on if WWE plan on allowing Kanellis to leave the company. Whether or not WWE will grant this request remains to be seen.
