Boxing coach: Military Games to help in Olympic qualifier preparation
Indian boxing coach Subedar Jai Singh Patil stated that the Military World Games at Wuhan in China would help the players prepare for the Olympics qualifiers.

Indian boxing coach Subedar Jai Singh Patil stated on Saturday, October 19, that the Military World Games at Wuhan in China would help the players prepare for the Olympics qualifiers. He further exuded confidence that the boxers would give their 200%. Mentioning the fact that the qualifiers were scheduled to be held in Wuhan, he observed that players such as Amit Panghal had already visited the venue.
He said, "All the boxers have come here to play and win the matches. We have also come to win and we will give our 200%. After this, Olympics qualifying challenges are there in February. Coincidentally, qualifying rounds for Olympics will be held in Wuhan. Since players are here in Wuhan, they will get to know about the environment and other factors. Amit Panghal and Deepak have already visited the venue. All will do well in the games."
A satisfactory day 1 for India
Out of the 7 Indian boxers that participated on the first day, 4 won their bout while three others lost their matches. In the men's 52-56 kg category, Chirag defeated Zambia's Katanga Christopher with a 5-0 score. In the men's light fly category which is 46-49 kg, Deepak defeated Iran's Abaszadeh Ali. The Commonwealth bronze medalist, Satish Kumar came out triumphant in the men's super-heavyweight category of 91+ kg by defeating Brazil's Nascimento Cosme with a 3-2 score. However, Sandeep Kumar did not have a good outing in his match as he was defeated by Uzbekistan's Rasulov Jakhongir in the preliminary men's 60-64 kg category. In total, 54 participants from Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force are taking part in the 9-day long 7th CISM Military World Games, which was inaugurated by Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday. This time, India would participate in 9 sports events in the competition.
