‘When I play pressure game I ask him…’: Abhishek Sharma reveals his tradition featuring Shubman Gill

Debutant opener Abhishek Sharma has a specific tradition which he follows during crunch situations, and it involves the Team India skipper Shubman Gill.

Abhishek Sharma was in hammer time mode at Harare after he powered through a disastrous start to the Zimbabwe Series. After Team India lost the first T20I, the SRH opener was in action in the 2nd T20I as he let his bat do the talking. With a 47-ball ton, Sharma etched his name in history with his explosive approach and formidably rebound from a pressure situation to the new Indian team. The India opener was jubilant after putting up convincing numbers on the board after the match. He also made a significant revelation on what he does while battling pressure situations like these.

Scoring a maiden international ton is massive, and Abhishek Sharma was a beast unleashed when he faced the Zimbabwean bowlers during the 2nd T20I. After the match, the star-opener expressed his delight, while also revealing that he used Shubman Gill's bat to reach the feat. Surprisingly, it was not new to him, as he has been doing the practice since their Under-12 days.

“It has been quite beautiful, starting as kids of 11-12 years. Yeah, we are playing together from Under-12. When I was selected for the country, the first call I received was from Shubman.

"Today, I played with his bat, so special thanks to the bat. It happened from the under-12 days, as whenever I play a pressure game I ask him for a bat," the star opener said as per PTI.

Team India have now leveled the series after they withered Zimbabweans secured a 100 run win after faltering in the opening stage. Opener Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Rinku Singh showcased their tenacity and held themselves to do the job with the bat as they put up solid numbers in the board. The bowling too, did not disappoint, as Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan scalped thre each to derail Zimbabwe's momentum. The new Team India's clinical bounce back speaks volumes as they came back from a major deficit against the minnows to seal their dominance.
