Bangladesh Cricket's most prolific cricketer, Shakib Al-Hasan, has announced his intentions to retire in his homeland. However, some issues have prevented him from travelling back to the South Asian nation, and he has yet to have a proper send-off. The BAN veteran missed out on the three-match Test series against South Africa at home, and his future is the game is still murky. Amid the chatter, the Bangla Tigers are all set to travel to the USE for an away series, and the BCB President has offered an update on Shakin Al-Hasan.

BCB President Offers An Update On Shakib Al-Hasan's Availability For ODI Series vs AFG
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Faruque Ahmed opened up on Shakib Al-Hasan's status for the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan. He confirmed that the veteran BAN star will be available for the Afghanistan ODI series. He also revealed that they tried their best to bring Shakib back so that he could compete in the farewell Test series.
"Regarding Shakib Al Hasan, since the team (for the three ODIs against South Africa) has not been given yet, it means he is available.
"The first thing is that you said that he couldn't play his last Test here, but we are completely uninvolved with that situation. The law enforcement forces, the government and Shakib were [involved]. We are totally an auxiliary part in this. Personally, I tried my level best so that Shakib can get his retirement at home," BCB President Faruque Ahmed said.

In the previous instance, Shakib Al-Hasan was named in the home Test series against South Africa, which was supposed to be his farewell series. The all-rounder was supposed to return to Dhaka from Dubai while transiting from the US. But he did not go back home, and the BCB named young left-arm spinner Hasan Murad as his replacement. He last participated for the national side in the away series against the Rohit Sharma -led Team India, and his last appearance was at the Kanpur Test.
The Bangla Tigers will lock horns against Afghanistan in an away series, with the first ODI match taking place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, November 06th, 2024.
