During the post-match press conference, Aiden Markram spoke out on India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson's brilliance at Durban's Kingsmead Stadium. He revealed that the Stumper put their bowlers under pressure, and it's challenging to stop him once he gets into the attack.

"Sanju played incredibly well, put our bowlers under pressure, plans to negate him and better plans will help us going forward. Once he is striking like that, it's pretty hard to stop, and you take your hat off to him," Aiden Markram said.

The SA captain also talked candidly about the moment the home team lost, saying that the ball did its job after it wore out. They also desired a stronger start, and that's when they lost the match.

"Not so much about the toss. Both new balls did a bit with the extra bounce. It was consistent in the two innings. Once the newish ball wore out, it played well. We wanted to get off to a better start, and that is where we lost the game," Markram noted.

Team India went on to win the first T20I match against the Proteas Men by 61 runs at the Kingsmead Stadium in Durban, South Africa. Sanju Samson emerged as the Player of the Match for his exceptional 107-run knock with seven fours and 10 sixes and had a strike rate of 214.00. While Sanju flared with the bat, the Indian bowling attack also did a decent job of limiting the SA batters. Spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi picked up three-wicket hauls to break the hosts' momentum and eventually win the inaugural match of the T20I series.
