India scripted history on June 29, 2024 as they defeated South Africa in the finals of the T20 World Cup. The game that was played at the Kensington Oval, Barbados saw India lift the T20 World Cup for the second time after seventeen odd years. India were considered as favourites to win the World T20, but the Proteas staged a great fightback as the match culminated in a thriller. South Africa also created a history of their own as they qualified for the finals of the World Cup for the first time.
Aiden Markram Reacts To South Africa's Heartbreaking Defeat Against India
Aiden Markram is a proven leader and a batsman. The Proteas player is the only skipper of their country to have led the national side in a World Cup final. India had the final in their kitty, but then came out wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen who belted the Indian bowlers all across the park and almost sealed the game for India.
But it was Bumrah's eighteenth over and Suryakumar Yadav's spectacular catch in the last over that shifted the momentum towards India. Almost after two months to the historic final, Aiden Markram has opened up and has spoken about how he dealt with the heartbreak of the T20 World Cup Final.

'Luckily I was able to take some time to get away from the game, get away from cricket conversations that would spark the discussion once again. It was nice to get away from that and to reset. Each individual processes it pretty much to themselves. Probably the most important thing is making sure you're at peace with how it all ended. So that you can move on and move forward', said Markram as quoted by Cricbuzz.
