Asia Cup 2023: Amid heavy criticism Rohit Sharma delivers, registers unique feat

The Indian cricket team openers Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma continued from where they left against Nepal and gave the team an excellent start in the IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 Super Fours clash. The duo added 121 runs off 100 balls and both batters scored half-centuries. However, Rohit and Gill were not able to convert their fifties into hundreds and got out for 58 and 56 runs respectively.

Rohit Sharma registers new career milestone 

Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma was badly criticised by cricket experts and fans for constantly failing to score with the bat on various occasions. However, Rohit has silenced all the critics and achieved his 50th fifty in ODI cricket. Sharma failed to score with the bat in the Indian team's first match in the Asia Cup 2023 against Pakistan and was cleaned up for 10 runs by Shaheen Shah Afridi.

However, the Indian skipper returned to form against Nepal and played an unbeaten knock of 74 runs off 59 balls and guided his team to a ten-wicket win.

Who will be the first-choice opener for Team India in ODI World Cup? 

The Indian cricket team is playing with three openers in the ODI World Cup 2023 which includes the likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan. Rohit will be opening the innings, whereas, the team management will have to choose between Kishan and Gill as his partner. The Indian think tank is expected to go with Shubman and play Ishan as a middle-order batsman. Though with KL Rahul also in the team as a wicket-keeping option, Ishan Kishan might have to wait for his chance.
