Afghanistan is all set to lock horns against Sri Lanka in the final group-stage match of Asia Cup 2023. While it is almost certain that Bangladesh will go through to the super-four round given their positive NRR. Afghanistan on the other hand has to bring out momentous effort against Sri Lanka in order to qualify for the next round.

India secures comfortable victory against Nepal

India qualified for the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup after beating Nepal by 10 wickets under the Duckworth/Lewis method in a rain-interrupted match here on Monday.  Chasing a revised target of 145 in 23 overs, captain Rohit Sharma (74 not out) and Shubman Gill (67 not out) struck unbeaten half-centuries to take India home with 17 balls to spare. India reached 147 for no loss in 20.1 overs.

Afghanistan's qualification scenario explained

Afghanistan will now require a big win against Sri Lanka in Lahore on Tuesday if they’re to qualify for the next round. Sri Lanka can still qualify even if Afghanistan beat Sri Lanka on Tuesday, but they need to make sure it’s not a heavy defeat. For Afghanistan to qualify, they will need to beat Sri Lanka by approximately 70 runs or chase in approximately 36 overs.

Both India and Nepal belong to Group A. The Asia Cup 2023 match between IND vs NEP on Monday was played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. India defeated Nepal by 10 wickets during its group A encounter and with this victory, Team India finished at 3 points and in 2nd spot to qualify for the super-four round. Pakistan ended up at the top position from group A with 3 points but with a better NRR.

The Asia Cup 2023 action will continue. Today, Team Afghanistan takes on Sri lanka and will look to acquire entry to the next round. The match will begin at 3 PM IST.
