As they come off the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, Rahul Dravid came off from the position, prompting the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to take certain steps to appoint a new coach in Gambhir. Not just the fans, not the emerging Team India players in Zimbabwe are also ecstatic to play under the wing of Coach GG. Fast bowler Avesh Khan provided a glimpse into his approach towards the game of cricket.

Avesh Khan Reveals an Intricate Aspect of Coach Gautam Gambhir Which Makes Him a Standout
Fast bowler Avesh Khan believes that Gautam Gambhir is a team coach because of his unwavering focus on succeeding at all costs and his desire to get the best performance possible from his players. Khan is hoping for a more prolonged and reliable tenure in the national squad under the recently appointed coach.
“Whatever I have learned from him, it is about the mindset that you should always look to get the better of your opponent and give your 100 per cent.
“In team meetings, as well as one-on-ones, he would speak less but would convey his point as to what is to be done. He would assign tasks and roles to players and he has always been a ‘team coach’, he always wants to win and everyone to give their 100 per cent,” Avesh told BCCI ahead of India’s fourth T20I match on Saturday against Zimbabwe.

Avesh Khan has been under Gautam Gambhir's tutelage during the former India opener's time as a mentor for the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League. In the two seasons, LSG reached the playoffs and posed a solid threat to other franchises despite being relatively new to the scene.
Beginning on June 26, Gambhir — who was formally introduced as India's next head coach earlier this week — will play three T20 Internationals and as many One-Day Internationals in an away white-ball series in Sri Lanka.
