Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan recently said that the board is ready to talk with the cricketers who have called for a strike. Hassan, however, also reportedly accused those players of tarnishing the image of the country. In a 25-minute monologue with the media, Nazmul Hassan angrily responded to almost every question with "but why did they not tell us before?".

BCB chief slams Bangladesh players

The BCB chief said that the board have agreed to bigger demands before. With the ongoing National Cricket League, the BCB is currently focused on the country’s domestic circuit while earlier, the governing council was focused on the World Cup in England. Hassan also dismissed off the strike as not a “real issue” and if the players ever had certain demands, the board was always ready to talk.

Meanwhile, the BCB assembled an emergency meeting this Tuesday to address the players impending requirements. The Bangladesh cricket team decided to not participate in any cricketing activity until their demands were fully met by the governing body. Their strike will directly impact the ongoing National Cricket League, country’s oldest and premier first-class tournament. It will also affect Bangladesh’s upcoming tour to India which will comprise of three T20Is and two Test matches.

Bangladesh tour of India 2019

Initially, the Bangladeshi cricket team was slated to tour India which would begin with a T20I affair on November 3. The tour was supposed to be country’s second-ever bilateral trip to India where the two Asian giants were scheduled to participate in the second edition of Ganguly–Durjoy Trophy. The eponymous Test trophy started when the Bangladesh team previously visited India in 2017. In the inaugural 2017 edition, Team India won the one-off Test match by 208 runs. ‘Man of the Match’ Virat Kohli scored a flamboyant 204 in the first innings to propel India’s total to 687-6d.
