The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) honorary secretary, Jay Shah, has been with the team in Barbados since the T20 World Cup title win and he has opened up on several aspects. Shah also touched upon the new coach, revealing that the new man in charge will lead the team in the Sri Lanka tour. The BCCI secretary also unveiled the reason that Rahul Dravid did not re-apply for the post, saying that he cited family commitments as the main concern for him not returning to the team.

"He told me that due to family commitments he wants to quit and we respect his decision. I didn’t forced him to extend.

"Rahul Dravid’s role is as important as Rohit Sharma in this T20 World Cup title triumph. He is a man, who took the team to the 2023 ODI World Cup final and didn’t wanted to leave because he wanted to finish the job," Jay Shah said while speaking to the reporters in Barbados after India's T20 WC win.
