England's star all-rounder Ben Stokes' wife Clare on Tuesday rubbished reports that the England cricketer tried to "choke" her during a party, terming it as "non-sense". According to 'The Independent', Guido Fawkes website had published photographs where Stokes had his hand on his wife's face during the Professional Cricketers' Association Awards Fiftieth Anniversary party. The photos soon triggered allegations of physical altercation, forcing Clare to clear the air. Stokes, who was England's World Cup hero, re-tweeted Clare's post with a kissing face emoji.

Unbelievable what nonsense these people will make up! Me and Ben messing about squishing up each other’s faces cos that’s how we show affection and some pap tries to twist it in to a crazy story! And all before we then have a romantic McDonalds 20 mins later! @benstokes38 pic.twitter.com/1HmPV1ZfxG

Ben Stokes conferred with the PCA Player of the Year award
The photographs were taken during the Awards function held at the Camden Roundhouse on October 2. Clare later posted a smiling photo of the couple at the event, where Stokes was conferred with the PCA Player of the Year award, and another where she appeared to be squishing her husband's face. Last month, Stokes was left gutted after a story was published revealing a tragedy that hit his family 31 years ago. He had described the report as "immoral" and "heartless". Last year, Stokes was fined 30,000 pounds and handed an eight-match ban by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) after he was involved a brawl near a nightclub in Bristol.
Stokes' brilliance with the bat
Ben Stokes rediscovered his rhythm which helped England especially when it had mattered the most. In the World Cup final at Lord's, England were in all sorts of trouble after they were reduced to 86/4 while chasing a target of 242. Stokes was then involved in a 110-run partnership with Jos Buttler for the sixth-wicket stand. The all-rounder scored an unbeaten 98-ball 84 with some stroke of luck that went his way which included an overthrow as the ball had deflected off his bat in the final over as the World Cup hosts were awarded six valuable runs. In the end, England won the contest by the boundary-count rule. Over a month later, Stokes once again rose to the occasion in the third Ashes Test against arch-rivals Australia at Leeds which was a must-win game for England. Chasing a huge target of 359, the Joe Root-led side seemed down and out and that is when Ben Stokes had resurrected the English hopes. He scored an outstanding century and stood firmly at one end while wickets continued to tumble from the other. His efforts paid off as his unbeaten 219-ball 135 helped England register a famous win by 1 wicket.
