Mumbai: The 'Men in Blue' on July 4, 2024 returned to India after winning the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma and Co. achieved this heroic feat by defeating Aiden Markram's Proteas by 7 runs at the Kensington Oval, Barbados. Since India's historic win, the entire nation has been in a sense of euphoria and has been desperate to welcome their heroes back. Rohit and Co. were scheduled to reach India on July 30, 2024, but they were stranded at the Caribbean Islands as Hurricane Beryl made landfall.

India's Vijay Rath Stuck In Crowd

Just like MS Dhoni's T20 World Cup winning team in 2007, the team that won India's second T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma's captaincy was scheduled to participate in the victory parade. Gathering of a large number was expected, but nobody had an idea about how the people would take to the streets to celebrate India's iconic T20 World Cup victory. Team India made their way from the Mumbai Airport to the Wankhede Stadium amid jam-packed roads and Indian fans celebrating their victory. 'Vijay Rath', the bus that was supposed to carry the Indian team got stuck in heavy crowd and there was hardly any space for the bus to move.

PM Modi Meets Team India

The 'Men in Blue' landed in Delhi during the early hours of July 4, 2024. The World Champions were then scheduled to meet the Prime Minister of India at his residence located on the 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. The Indian team wearing their special jersey with the word 'Champions' mentioned on it, met the Prime Minister and had breakfast with him. The players also sat down with the honourable PM for a quick chat and later clicked pictures with him. Former coach Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma handed the T20 World Cup to PM Modi. After their short trip to Delhi, the 'Men in Blue' then left for the 'City of Dreams' Mumbai.
