James Anderson is regarded as one of cricket's best bowlers. He has completed his international career with England. While many fans feel they will never see the 42-year-old cricketer on the pitch again, Anderson has an intriguing message for them, sparking curiosity about his future and potential rebound to the game but in a different scene.

James Anderson may eye to play in the T20 leagues post-international retirement

One of the best fast bowlers in Test cricket history, James Anderson is still enthusiastic about his fitness level even after declaring his retirement from international cricket one month ago. Anderson, 42, is thinking about going back to short-form cricket over ten years after his last T20 game, the 2014 T20 Blast final with Lancashire.

After England's triumph over the West Indies in mid-July, Anderson's passion for cricket is still unabated even if he is away from the global competition. He has also hinted about perhaps starting in franchise cricket. James Anderson stated (via PA Media):

"I might be in a bit of denial because I'm well aware I won't play for England again, but I've still not made a decision on my actual cricket career,"

“There's definitely a bit of intrigue with the shorter formats because I've not played any franchise stuff before. Watching the Hundred this year, seeing the ball swing around, it makes me feel like I could do a job there.”

"Once this summer is done, I can sit down and have a real think if I want to play cricket in some shape or form again next year.

“I'm quite open at the minute to thoughts of any sort of cricket. I'm still fit enough to play, and I'm not shutting myself off to anything. It's hard to know if there'll be any interest from people wanting me to play in that sort of thing, so we'll wait and see.

“I know it's a while since I played it and my age will get brought up again, but I really feel I'll be good enough to play that form of cricket."

Following his retirement from international cricket, James Anderson has assumed coaching duties (in bowling) within the national squad of England. Nevertheless, the notion of fully retiring from the game does not align with the sentiments of the renowned fast bowler. Although Anderson has redirected his attention towards coaching up-and-coming talent, he has not completely ruled out the possibility of resuming his participation in competitive cricket. The fast-paced and intense atmosphere of franchise leagues may pose a fresh challenge for him as he approaches the later years of his career. Anderson has expressed his intention to perhaps resume playing T20 cricket after the summer season ends.
