Australia's opener David Warner registered his first maiden T20I ton against Sri Lanka on Sunday as Australia raced to 233 runs in the first T20 at Adelaide. David Warner raced to his century off just 56 balls, including ten fours and four sixes. David Warner marked his comeback to the national side in the shortest form of the game after his international ban with a century and remained unbeaten at the end of Australia's innings. Sri Lanka's pacers suffered the wrath of Aaron Finch, David Warner, and Glen Maxwell, leaving them jolted as Australia lost just one wicket in their 20 overs. and set a target of 233 runs for Sri Lanka to chase down.

Glen Maxwell joins the party

Australia's skipper Aaron Finch stitched a solid opening partnership with David Warner before he was dismissed for 64 runs. Glen Maxwell took over from Aaron Finch and raced away to his fifty off just 22 balls. Glen Maxwell smashed consecutive sixes en route to his fifty and played the helicopter shot to get to his half-century. Sri Lanka's Kasutha Ranjitha became the most expensive bowler in T20I after he conceded 75 runs in his four overs.

Sri Lanka suffer early blow

Chasing a target of 234 runs, Sri Lanka fell prey to Australia's pace as they lost three early wickets in the beginning of their run chase. Pat Cummins struck twice to remove Danushka Gunathilaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa for zero and two runs respectively. Mitchell Starc got rid of Kusal Mendis for a duck, putting the visitors in a tricky situation at the very beginning of their run-chase.
