The hype around the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been so intimidating and the fans have been eagerly rooting for the iconic Test series. Sunil Gavaskar Schools Dinesh Karthik For Focusing On BGT Instead Of IND vs NZ Test Series

During the India vs New Zealand Test match in Pune, Veterans Sunil Gavaskar and Dinesh Karthik were on commentary duties and were speaking live on the mic. Given the hype over the BGT series, DK touched upon the topic while saying, "There is a big series coming up against Australia as well…" which is when Gavaskar interrupted him and pointed out the mistake he made live on air.

"Don't talk about Australia now. That is a mistake that a lot of people often make. You've got to worry about what's happening now. Your focus should be only on what's happening at the moment. Australia will take care of itself. When you go there, you will find the methods to beat Australia. You've done that over the last couple of trips there. You found a way," Sunil Gavaskar said.

Sunil Gavaskar also pointed out that it is the hype over the media which has been deflecting attention from the present. He expressed his reservations over the coverage around the BGT and the Australian players speaking about the much-awaited series.

"It's not the players. The players are focussed on the game. It's the circle around which is the media and everybody else which is talking about Australia. There is so much of coverage about what is going to happen in Australia. The Australian players are all the time talking about the Indian team, what should be the team and all that," Gavaskar added.

Team India is battling hard against New Zealand to keep their dominant record alive in Test Cricket. But the Kiwis blatantly put the side's vulnerabilities against spin bowling on display. Team India's struggles continue, and it is yet to be seen whether the hosts could bounce back in the competition.
