'Don't Want to Remember': Tristan Stubbs Still Battles With the Horrors of the T20 WC Final Loss

The T20 World Cup Final was a historic moment for Team India. But for South Africa, they suffered a heartbreak after failing to clinch the title despite being inches away from a win. The catch made by Suryakumar Yadav turned the tide, which is when it went downhill for the Proteas. SA has to wait for a title win for quite a while, and the loss continues to burden one of their top players. A Proteas all-rounder has expressed that he has been having difficulty moving on from the loss they faced at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Tristan Stubbs is Still Feeling the Blues of the T20 World Cup Final Loss

For Tristan Stubbs, the T20 World Cup Final loss has been daunting, as he finds it difficult to recuperate from the loss despite being in a sound position during the match. While speaking to the IOA, Stubbs revealed that he has tried his best to let go of the past, but it hasn't been easy. Moreover, he coined the moment as something one does not want to remember.

"T20 WC Final results come up when you don't want it to. I've tried my best to forget, but it's not easy. Someone the other night told us about this and you're like, 'You don't have to tell us if you feel bad for us'... Some things you don't want to remember," Tristan Stubbs said.

The South African all-rounder offered a solid outing for his side as he put up 196 matches in the 11 games he played. He also had a strike rate of 101.03. Stubbs was a reliable man in the middle order as he helped South Africa reach the final of the coveted ICC Men's T20 World Cup Tournament. But reeling from the loss has been distressing for Tristan.

South Africa was inches away from a title win at the Kensington Oval in Barbados as their batting was potent enough to reach the target. But India's bowling attack, spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh and the death over by Hardik Pandya, turned it around and the Men in Blue ended their decade-long wait for an ICC title.
