England's captain makes a huge statement on Harry Brook

Harry Brook has received the support of England's captain, Jos Buttler, who emphasised that the young batter does not need to make a name for himself after being left out of the provisional World Cup selection squad. The World Cup is hardly a month away, and the Three Lions will be looking to defend their title on Indian soil.

The decision to omit Brook from the 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup preliminary roster disappointed him. Ben Stokes' decision to come out of retirement to play in the ICC ODI World Cup had a huge impact on this decision, which led to Brook narrowly missing out on making the provisional squad. Despite having played in only three ODIs for England, Brook has had a huge influence in Test matches and T20Is. In his brief ODI career so far, he has scored a total of 86 runs. On the other hand, Ben Stokes has also been a key player for the English team in the past and has played a big role in England's decent performances while captaining Test cricket.

After doing well in the Hundred, the English batter got a spot on the team for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand, which will start on Wednesday, August 30. Jos Buttler told Sky Sports before the first match of the series that Brook doesn't need to show anything and that he has faith in Brook's ability to do well in the upcoming games.

Buttler stated that Brook is unfortunate to be out of the lineup at the moment

I don't think he has a point. We all know what a fantastic player he is. He's not missed out because he's not at the moment. Yeah, he's a top player, fully expect him to play really well, and that's why he's here. He's a really good player. He's unfortunate to miss out on selection at this stage, and that's set up for a long time. We've got a lot of depth and talent and and I think the young players coming through and pushing part of the team actually for the last few years, So it's natural that good players miss out. That's what happens in good teams,

Buttler claimed that the final squad for the World Cup has not been announced yet, and there are many chances that Brook could be a part of the team. However, ahead of the ODI WC showdown in India, the captain expects him to perform well in the matches he is scheduled to play for the National team.
