Ben Stokes announcing his return to the ODI format is a major boost for England. However, it comes at a cost. Stokes' inclusion in the ODI squad meant someone would have to make way for him, and indeed a capable batsman might be scrificed. ECB would have to choose between a hard-hitting striker and arguably their biggest match-winner.

Harry Brook makes way for Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes joining the forces before the World Cup makes England an even stronger side, and it is a subject of delight for the fans, but not for everybody in England. Harry Brook, who is in the scheme of things for the world cup, might be shown the exit door. The batter is expressively disappointed over his potential omission.

Harry Brook expresses disappointment
Speaking after the Hundred clash against the London Spirit, the 24-year-old admitted his disappointment but felt he does not have a case against Ben Stokes.
"Obviously, it's disappointing but I can't do anything about it now. You've just got to move on. I'm trying not to think about it anymore. I've not had much conversation with Matthew [Mott] or Jos [Buttler]. They said with Stokesy coming back I was probably going to miss out this time. He is one of the best players to ever play cricket, so I can't really complain, can I?" Harry Brook said.
I feel like I'm playing well at the minute and feel I could potentially add value to the team. [But] there's always something more you could do," he added.
While Harry Brook has been a revelation for England in the Test format, he is yet to perform at the same level in the limited overs formats. The 24-year-old is only 3-match old in the ODIs. He has so far only scored 84 runs in the ODIs.
