Kings XI Punjab were chasing RRs's 191 and an Akshar Patel four off the last ball of the match made the scores level. David Miller and Shaun Marsh opened the batting for Punjab in the Super Over as Chris Morris came in to bowl. Miller was out on the very first ball but the Punjab camp was saved by Shaun Marsh who scored boundaries and got Punjab to 15 in the Super Over. Mitchell Johnson bowled for Punjab as Shane Watson and James Faulkner opened the Royals' batting in an all-Australian battle between the World Cup 2015 winners. Johnson cleaned up Watson on the very first ball and Steve Smith was run-out in the third ball to hand Punjab a comprehensive win.

Rabada then uprooted Russell's middle stump on the third ball, bringing DC back into contention. KKR could only manage seven runs in their Super Over as Delhi won, which helped them advance to the playoffs eventually.
