IND vs SL Series: Gautam Gambhir is all set to embark on a new journey as the Team India Head Coach. Gambhir's first stint as the Indian Cricket's main man will start with India's tour to Sri Lanka which kickstarts later this month. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from the shortest international format after India won the T20 World Cup on June 29, 2024. Captaincy Headache For BCCI Ahead Of IND vs SL Series

India are currently heading into the transitional phase with both Rohit and Virat gone from the T20I format. Soon after the 'Men in Blue' won the T20 World Cups, a second string Indian cricket team travelled to Zimbabwe for a five match T20I series led by Shubman Gill and VVS Laxman as the coach of the side. The young guns of India clinched the Zimbabwe series by 4-1 and are now gearing up for the Sri Lanka tour.

The Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) is currently caught in a fix. The Indian Team management along with head Coach Gautam Gambhir and  Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar are having rigorous talks about picking the next India T20I captain. Suryakumar Yadav out of nowhere has emerged as a captaincy contender for Team India in the shortest international format.

According to a report published in Cricbuzz, The Board of Control for Cricket In India held a meeting on Tuesday as per latest developments. The outcome of this meeting seems to have come out as 'productive' and it lasted over 60 minutes. The Head Coach also outlined his vision for the men's team.

Rohit Sharma Likely To Return For Sri Lanka ODIs

After the culmination of the World T20 Rohit Sharma had opted for a break and had wanted to rest for the Sri Lanka series which made KL Rahul the contender for the ODI captaincy. It is now being said that Gambhir might have spoken to Rohit and has convinced him to cut down his break and return for the Sri Lanka ODIs.
