'Elated': Gautam Gambhir Thanks Jay Shah For Support After Appointment As New India Head Coach
Gautam Gambhir has thanked Jay Shah for his confidence and support after the BCCI secretary announced his appointment as new team India head coach.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Tuesday evening announced the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach of Indian Cricket Team.
As Gautam Gambhir took over as the head coach of Indian Cricket Team, he was proud to take on the endeavour and thanked Jay Shah for the confidence and support shown in him.
Gautam Gambhir Thanks Jay Shah
Gautam Gambhir is relatively inexperienced in comparison to some of the candidates who might have been linked with Indian coaching job like Stephen Fleming and Ricky Ponting. Hence, his appointment to coach the national team is a massive vote of confidence in the former Team India opener.
Gautam Gambhir took to X and thanked Jay Shah by reacting to his announcement.
“Many thanks for your extremely kind words and support. Elated to be a part of this journey”, wrote Gambhir
The appointment of Gautam Gambhir spurs a new era for Indian Cricket and he succeed outgoing coach Rahul Dravid.
Gautam Gambhir's Promise To Indian Cricket Team Fans
Upon his appointment as head coach, Gautam Gambhir felt honoured and in his first message as India's New Head Coach, Gambhir promised Indian Cricket Team to make their dreams come true.
“I’m honoured to be back, albeit wearing a different hat. But my goal is the same as it has always been, to make every Indian proud. The men in blue shoulder the dreams of 1.4 billion Indians and I will do everything in my power to make these dreams come true!,” wrote Gautam Gambhir on X.
Gautam Gambhir takes over as India's head coach despite his lack of experience in the position. Gautam Gambhir has never coached a cricket team before but he has led two IPL franchises in Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders as a mentor.
Gautam Gambhir led Lucknow to two consecutive playoff appearances before moving to Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024. Gautam Gambhir's played a huge role as mentor of KKR and led them to their third IPL title in 2024.
