Australian hard-hitting batsman Glenn Maxwell has decided to take an indefinite break from the game because of mental health issues as confirmed by Cricket Australia.
Maxwell was back at his best as he scored a quick 62 against Sri Lanka in the first T20I in Adelaide which ensured Australia posted a massive total and won the match comprehensively. Australia have already taken an indisputable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Maxwell will not feature in the final T20 game. D'Arcy Short has been named his replacement and will join the squad on Friday.
Fans have come forward in numbers on twitter to support the Australian in this sensitive period. Some have motivated him to stay strong while others have lauded him for acknowledging it and taking a break.
Here is a look at the tweets:
So much pressure on top sportspersons - one would have thought that having scored a magnificent 60-odd in the opening T20I v SL, Glenn Maxwell would have been in the happiest space possible. Clearly not. Best wishes to him for a speedy recovery. Mental problems are a bitch

Don’t understand why some people are trolling him for this.

Mental Health is equally important (if not more) as compared to physical health of a person.
Get well soon Maxi. 👍🏼❤️🇮🇳#GlennMaxwell #AUSvSL @Gmaxi_32 https://t.co/mQXCBqWf1Z
