Team India Star Virat Kohli Pushed for Domestic Comeback After Red-Ball Struggles

During an appearance on Cricbuzz, Kohli's RCB ally, Dinesh Karthik , spoke about the batter's latest slump in Test Cricket and his struggles while facing spin. The veteran cricketer thinks that it has not been a good one for Virat Kohli, and he has disappointed everyone. He now needs to go and figure it out to emerge stronger. He added that a return to his domestic red-ball roots could also work out if he wants to figure out a way to tackle spin.

“We all know what he is capable of. This series was not meant to be. Like the fans have been saying, he has not done it for a long time and that we cannot run away from. We don’t want to sugarcoat it because we want to be as objective in assessing any player, any performance. At the moment Virat Kohli’s Test record in the last 2-3 years, has not been great against spin.

“What he needs to do is probably go back to domestic cricket and focus on what needs to be done with the current rules of DRS. There is no doubt the left-arm spinners pose a big threat,” Dinesh Karthik expressed.

Virat Kohli has found it unbelievably arduous to tackle the spin bowlers lately and his numbers in Test cricket have taken a massive dip since 2021. The Bangladesh Test series marked the return of the star India batter, but his struggle persists as he failed to put up numbers in critical junctures for Team India. The New Zealand Series was also a point of concern as he was dismissed cheaply in both matches. With the BGT series upcoming soon, it is yet to be seen whether Kohli will return to his form against the Mighty Australia.
