Former South African skipper Graeme Smith termed Faf DuPlessis' decision to allow Temba Bavuma to make the call at the toss as a 'pathetic' move, as the visitors lost the toss for the ninth consecutive time in India. Bad luck continued for South Africa, despite skipper Faf DuPlessis trying to get his vice-skipper to call the toss in order to see if there was any change in fortunes for the visitors. However, the Proteas' condition turned out to be a laughing stock as a change in the person calling the toss did not impact the result of the toss. It was during the match commentary when former Proteas skipper Graeme Smith criticised Faf DuPlessis' move and called it a pathetic attempt.

Virat Kohli laughs as Proteas lose toss yet again

Nothing seemed to work out for South Africa as they lost the toss in the third Test even though Temba Bavuma made the call in place of skipper Faf DuPlessis. India's skipper Virat Kohli along with presenter Murali Karthik burst into laughter as soon as the Indian skipper won the toss, making it the ninth consecutive time that Faf DuPlessis has lost the toss in India. Faf DuPlessis had expressed his intentions to send his deputy Temba Bavuma out to call for the toss in his place to break the jinx but even that did not work out for the Proteas skipper. Virat Kohli, who elected to bat first in Ranchi, called it a 'no brainer' to bat first in the third and final Test, as India will hope to complete the whitewash and extend their lead at the top of the Test Championship.

Harsha Bhole gets it right

The 'Voice of Indian cricket' Harsha Bhogle got yet another prediction of his right as South Africa lost the toss despite sending out another member instead of Faf DuPlessis in the third Test on Saturday. Harsha Bhogle had questioned Faf DuPlessis' decision to send another player in hopes to win the toss and had said that irrespective of who came out, the chances of winning were one out of two chances. India's skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first, thus proving Harsha Bhogle's insight on South Africa to be correct. The Indian commentator and analyst took to Twitter after the toss to convey that it did not matter who attended the toss for South Africa as even they could not win the toss in place of Faf DuPlessis.
