Harbhajan Questions BCCI for Exclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson & Abhishek in IND vs SL

This week the BCCI unveiled the lineup for the next white-ball series against Sri Lanka, presenting Gautam Gambhir's first head coach effort. This series is important as it starts Gambhir's role and gives the squad chances to start powerfully under his direction.

Not including Sanju Samson from the ODI squad and Abhishek Sharma from the T20I squad, India revealed their white-ball teams for the next visit to Sri Lanka. Former cricket player Harbhajan Singh voiced his perplexity with the omissions from their respective formats of Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and Yuzvendra Chahal. Starting on July 27, the tour will include three T20Is and three ODIs and be the first under Gautam Gambhir, India's new head coach.

Sanju Samson, who had a century in his previous ODI match against South Africa, and Abhishek Sharma, who had his first T20I century in the Zimbabwe series, were both left out by the selection panel under the leadership of Ajit Agarkar. These choices particularly confused Harbhajan Singh.

Yuzvendra Chahal also failed to get any place on either of the tour's squads. Chahal, who was on the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024, did not get to play one single game during the event.

The men's selection committee made a number of unexpected judgements in their most recent release. Suryakumar Yadav has been named the captain of the T20I team, succeeding Hardik Pandya, who previously held the position of vice-captain under Rohit Sharma during the World Cup. In addition, Shubman Gill was elevated to the role of vice-captain for both formats in the series.
