Hardik Pandya has been heavily covered in the previous few days on news sources. Following Rohit Sharma's announcement of his T20 format retirement, the Indian all-rounder seemed to be the front-runner destined for captaincy. But chooseers and Gautam Gambhir, the team's new head coach, reduced the field to Suryakumar Yadav. Pandya suffered personally as well as he declared his divorce from his wife Natasa Stankovic the same day he was voted out as captain. The couple married four years ago, and their son Agastya will be under shared custody. After suffering a professional-personal knock, the Mumbai Indians skipper will try to be a hero for the nation again, after India takes on Sri Lanka in a white ball series.

Hardik Pandya and Natasa Stankovic revealed their split on Instagram on Thursday, July 18, in their letter expressing gratitude for their four-year journey and their son, Agastya, but also seeking privacy during the turbulent period. The post read:

“After 4 years of being together, Natasa and I have decided to mutually part ways. We tried our best together and gave it our all, and we believe this is in the best interest for the both of us. This was a tough decision for us to make, given the joy, mutual respect and companionship we enjoyed together and as we grew a family,"

“We are blessed with Agastya, who will continue to be at the centre of both our lives and we will co-parent to ensure that we give him everything that we can for his happiness. We sincerely request your support and understanding to give us the privacy during this difficult and sensitive time."

Hardik Pandya will now be seen in the Indian Cricket Team jersey, as they take on Sri Lanka on in the first T20I on July 27, 2024. This will be Gautam Gambhir's first project after he was named the head coach of the Indian Cricket Team, replacing Rahul Dravid.
