'Has a point to prove': Joe Root makes 'massive' prediction on Jonny Bairstow's future
The English cricket team has a pretty balanced squad consisting of Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes for the ODI World Cup 2023.

The English cricket team under the leadership of Jos Buttler will be beginning their ODI World Cup 2023 campaign against New Zealand on October 5. England's wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow, who was also part of the 2019 England World Cup winning squad, will aim to regain his lost form. Bairstow was dismissed for 6, 0 and 13 in the last three ODIs against New Zealand and didn't perform up to the expectation.

Joe Root gives up a big prediction on Jonny Bairstow in the ODI World Cup

English batters Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow were part of England's 2019 ODI World Cup-winning squad. Both the batsmen are an important part of the team and will have the responsibility to defend the team's ODI World Cup title. While speaking on the ICC Review, Root has come up with a big prediction on Bairtsow's future in the upcoming 50-over World Cup. The former English Test captain believes that Jonny Bairstow will be the highest run scorer in the upcoming major ICC tournament. Joe Root said:
I am going to go for Jonny Bairstow (to be the leading run scorer). He is someone that always has a point to prove, he is a wonderful white-ball player and he has been so consistent for us at the top of the order.

Will Joe Root bounce back in the ODI Cricket World Cup?
Former English Test captain Joe Root is mostly seen playing Test cricket and has not played much white ball cricket in recent times. Root, who was one of the premier members of England's ODI side a few years back has been sidelined due to the arrival of young players. Root was also not in good knick with the bat in the ODI series against New Zealand and will look forward to come back to form in the ODI World Cup.
