Despite being in poor form in the whiteball format, Joe Root has been included in England's 15-member squad for the 2023 50-over World Cup. However, English cricket team skipper Jos Buttler has backed Root and believes that he is the best player in the team. While speaking on Sky Sports, Jos Buttler said:
It just shows his hunger to play. He's someone who, over the last four years because of the schedule probably hasn't played as much 50-over cricket as he would like.
Jos Buttler opens up on how will Joe Root get back to form
Jos Buttler further stated that Joe Root knows how to get back into form and also to be ready for the major ICC event in India next month.
He's an experienced guy and he knows what he needs. He's arguably the best player in our team and he just knows what he needs to get ready. It was very simple for all involved.
Joe Root is mostly seen playing Test cricket and has only featured in white ball cricket on 19 occasions after the 2019 ODI World Cup final. Root has a brilliant technique and knows how to build the innings. The right-handed Yorkshire batter can prove to be very effective for the English middle order in the ODI World Cup once he gets back to form.
