ICC to Further Delay CT 25 Schedule Release After Failing to Convince PCB For 'Hybrid' Model: REPORT
The latest suggests that there will be a further delay in the announcement of Champions Trophy schedule.
Amid the uncertainty surrounding the Champions Trophy , the latest suggests that there will be a further delay in the announcement of the schedule. The delay is caused as the ICC has not yet been able to convince PCB to accept the ‘hybrid’ model. Earlier reports suggested that the much-awaited ICC Champions Trophy schedule would be released by the end of the week - but that does not seems to be the case. The PCB has stood firm on it's stand os not agreeing to the ‘hybrid’ model and with India refusing to travel across the border - the tension seems to be rising.
Meanwhile, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi addressed the press recently where he requested the Indian team to come to Pakistan . Naqvi assured the BCCI that there will not be any problem with the Indian cricket team.
‘Will ensure that Champions Trophy is held in Pakistan’
“We will ensure that Champions Trophy is held in Pakistan. We have written a letter to the ICC, we are awaiting a response. We are just talking to the ICC. I believe sports and politics should not be mixed together. I am just hoping for a positive result,” said Naqvi while speaking to the reporters.
“I think no one can give us a tough time. Every ICC member has its right, things cannot function like this. I am just hoping for a positive result when it comes to Champions Trophy,” he added.
Naqvi also questioned the credibility of the ICC.
‘ICC needs to think about their credibility’
“ICC needs to think about their credibility, the Champions Trophy tour has been rescheduled. Every other team in the world, that has qualified for the Champions Trophy, is ready to come and has no issue. If India have any concern, then I suggest them to talk to us. I don't think there is any reason for them to not come here,” said Mohsin Naqvi.
