ICC Under-19 World Cup 2020: India placed in Group A with NZ and SL
Team India have been grouped alongside New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Japan in Group A for the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2020 in South Africa.

The ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup defending champions India have been grouped alongside New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Japan in Group A for the next year’s edition of the tournament in South Africa. The 13th edition of the ICC Under-19 World Cup will be contested between 16 teams, split into four groups. The tournament will begin on January 17, 2020 with South Africa taking on Afghanistan in the opening match. The final iis scheduled to be played at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom on February 9. Team India, who won the previous edition in 2018, will begin their title defence with a match against Sri Lanka on January 19.
India, New Zealand and Sri Lanka placed in Group A
Four-time winners India will be chasing their fifth Under-19 title in South Africa next year when they begin their Group A campaign against Sri Lanka. The two teams are also joined by New Zealand and newcomers Japan. All three Group A games involving India are scheduled to be held at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein. The team will once again be coached by former India captain Rahul Dravid.
Apart from Group A, three-time winners Australia are placed alongside West Indies, England and Nigeria in Group B. Group C include teams like Zimbabwe and Scotland alongside Asian heavyweights Bangladesh and Pakistan. The home side are placed in Group D with Afghanistan, UAE and Canada.
The Group Stage will be followed by Plate League which will include quarter-finals, playoff semi-finals and semi-finals. The Plate League will run in tandem with the Super League matches which will be conducted between January 28 and February 6. The final will be played at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom on February 9.
