Ind vs Ban, 1st Test, Day 1, Session 1: Indian pacers peg back Bangladesh at 63/3

India made full use of the new ball as they left the visitors reeling at 63/3 at the end of the first session on Day 1 of the first Test match that is being played in Indore.

Having won the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first. Virat Kohli was happy with the toss as India wanted to bowl first. Indian bowlers were spot on in the first session with their line and lengths as they asked all sorts of questions to the Bangladesh batsmen.

India on top after first session on Day 1

Ishant Sharma started the proceedings for the hosts. On the other end, Umesh Yadav had the ball with him. Both the bowlers started attacking the Bangladesh batsmen from the word go. The visitors got off the mark in the fourth over. Both the openers never looked settle as their edges were beaten time and again.

The hosts got the reward for their persistence in the sixth over as a Umesh Yadav delivery that shaped away caught Imrul Kayes' edge, which was caught by Ajinkya Rahane at gully for just 6. India did not have to wait long for the second wicket as in the next over, Ishant bowled an outswinger which forced Shadman Islam to drive, which caught the edge and landed in Saha's gloves. Shadman was sent back to pavilion for the same score as his opening partner.

Mohammed Mithun joined skipper Mominul Haque at the crease and both started resurrecting the Bangladesh innings and started playing patiently. But the Indian bowlers did not give away any opportunity to score easy runs. They were once again rewarded for their good bowling as Mohammed Shami's ball in the 18th over skidded off the surface and caught Mithun in the crease and the umpire raised his finger. He consulted with his skipper and decided to not go for the review.

Mominul was joined by experienced campaigner Mushifiqur Rahim and both ensured no further damage was done as they saw their team to lunch for a score of 63/3. Mominul was batting on 22 while Rahim was batting on 14. India's top three pacers had one wicket each to their names. Bangladesh will look to not lose any more wickets and make sure they reach a respectable total. India will look to wrap the visitors quickly.
