The Kanpur Test match was a big buzz among the local fans and Day One was filled with excited people eager to witness the Indian Cricket Team compete. But Day 2 and Day 3 at the Green Park Stadium saw no play take place as the weather played a major impact. Incessant showers hampered the play on Day 2, but it was Day 3 which turned out to be controversial. Despite no rainfall, the pitch was not prepared for action, and the Kanpur Stadium was being criticized for the same. A former cricketer also took issue with the venue's preparedness for the inevitable issue.

Former Cricket Slams Green Park Stadium's Management After IND vs BAN Day 3 Fiasco

Former Pakistan Cricketer Basit Ali called out the venue management who weren't able to dry the pitches up despite no rain on the morning of Day 3. He stressed that whoever will take over Jay Shah as secretary should suspend hosting Test matches in Kanpur after the fiasco. He also highlighted that if the match-up ends up in a draw, India's position in the WTC Standings would be direly affected.

"They couldn't manage to dry the ground even though it hadn't rained since last night. Even after two super soppers, the ground was still wet. It means that the covers were not great. Whoever is next BCCI secretary after Jay Shah should suspend Test matches in Kanpur.

"If the match ends up in a draw, then this result could affect India in the WTC standings. Everyone is thinking that India will win the three Tests against New Zealand. If one match ends up in a draw, then India could be in trouble. Kanpur doesn't deserve to host Test matches," Basit Ali said on his YouTube channel.

The morning of Day 3 at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur saw no rainfall, but no play was conducted due to the wet outfield. Despite the groundsmen's efforts of setting sand to dry the pitch and putting up sawdust to even the surface, the Day had to be called off as the outfield was still a point of concern. Only two days of play will take place at the Kanpur venue, and it is yet to be seen if the weather has any impact on the remaining days of the competition.
