India and New Zealand are all set to lock horns against each other in a three-match ODI series, starting January 18. The first match is scheduled to take place in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The second and third games will be played in Raipur and Indore on January 21 and 24. Both India and New Zealand are coming on the back of wins against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, respectively. While India handed Sri Lanka a clean sweep in their three-match contest, New Zealand defeated Pakistan 2-1 in their ODI series earlier this month.
How can India become the No. 1 ranked ODI team?
India are presently ranked 4th in the ICC Men's ODI team rankings with a rating of 110. In order for India to move up three places in the current ODI rankings, the Men in Blue must win all three matches of their upcoming series against New Zealand. If India can beat the Kiwis 3-0 in their ODI series, they can become the new No. 1 ranked side in the format. New Zealand are currently the No. 1 ranked team in ODIs with a rating of 117. England are ranked second, followed by Australia with ratings of 113 and 112, respectively.
