South Africa will be playing the third Test of their tour of India at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. Even though the visitors have already lost the Test series, former South African batsman believes that it will be a great learning curve for many of the players in the side irrespective of the outcome at Ranchi. In a press conference of the Abu Dhabi T10, Amla said that the South African team was rebuilding, having lost many key players in the last 18 months.

Amla was himself asked about reconsidering his decision of retirement in the past. He states that such a scenario can never happen and that he enjoyed his career at South Africa. He opines that giving youngsters an opportunity is more important and that retirement is something always inevitable at some stage for every cricket team.

Transition phase

Amla says that the South African team is going through a transitional period as every side would in world cricket. The team's batting and bowling performances in Test matches in recent times have been a matter of concern for the team. Yet, the  South African legend firmly believes that the team can get back to its glory days with time.

T10 saga

Amla signed off talking about the Abu Dhabi T10. He is thrilled about the opportunity to play alongside and opposite other legends in the tournament, many of whom he has idolized watching when he was growing up. He signed off by stating that his challenge will be to play every ball outside the off-stump right from the word go and that it would be mind-boggling to play a cricket match for just 90 minutes.
